Future Growth
Hamilton International Airport has developed a Master Plan to establish an orderly development concept, which protects and preserves options for hi’s operational and future growth over the next 20 years.
The Master Plan sets out objectives and recommendations, and serves as a guide for sustainable development decisions. In 2007, the Master Plan’s strategic component was updated. As a result, Strategic Plan 2020 was developed to establish a clear vision for the future and to provide a guide for achieving our long-term growth objectives. hi recognizes the importance of strategic planning in guiding its business initiatives over the next ten years.
Recent expansion projects, which align with the Airport’s Master Plan, will enable hi to become a top tier Canadian airport. Some of these projects include:
- Departures Lounge – recent development has enable the departures lounge to double in size and expand its food & beverage and retail services.
- CUTE – Common Use Terminal Equipment has been successfully incorporated at all departure gates. This equipment provides convenience as it allows any airline, or air carrier operating out of hi to process passenger boarding flights using common equipment.
- International Arrivals Hall – A full expansion to the international arrivals hall was completed in 2007. This expansion allows hi to better accommodate arriving international passengers.
John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport aims to develop our facilities in ways that will better accommodate and facilitate our passengers, our partners and our employees. Over the coming years hi will grow as an economic driver for Hamilton and the surrounding region.
